Biography

Eva Rieter is an assistant professor at Radboud University specializing in international and European law. She completed her PhD on provisional measures in international human rights adjudication. Rieter holds an LL.M from the University of Virginia and a Master's degree from Maastricht University. Her research interests focus on substantive remedies in pending litigation, comparative regional human rights systems, and the protection of detainees' rights and human rights defenders. She has led an international expert group in developing the Nijmegen Principles, which provide guidelines for interim measures protecting human rights. In 2021, she founded the Radboud Law Clinic, where she coordinates clinical education that connects academic research with practical service for public interest. Rieter has received several awards, including the Max van der Stoel Human Rights award and the STeR Internationalisation prize for her co-edited book on human rights. In addition to her academic role, she serves on the board of the Public Interest Litigation Project and is involved with the Royal Netherlands Society of International Law as well as the International Law Association.
