Dr. Eva Schultze Berndt

Biography

Eva Schultze-Berndt is a Professor of Linguistics in the Department of Linguistics and English Language at the University of Manchester. She has held prestigious academic positions at various institutions including the University of Graz, SOAS in London, and the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig. Her research interests center on linguistic typology, focusing on areas such as complex predication, modality, and language contact phenomena, particularly in Australian languages. She has conducted extensive fieldwork on languages including Jaminjung, Ngaliwurru, and Kriol, and her projects have been supported by various funding bodies including the Volkswagen Foundation. Eva is also involved in several editorial boards and actively supervises PhD students on topics related to grammar, semantics, and spatial expressions in lesser-studied language varieties. She has published numerous works in her field and is recognized for her contributions to the understanding of linguistic structures and language documentation.
