Biography

Evan Farley is a Design Critic in Architecture and a Visiting Faculty member at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. He is an architectural designer and principal at Assembly Archive, a design collaborative based in Providence, which works at the intersection of architecture, fabrication, and archival objects. His work and research explore the relationship with material-driven systems and focus on diverse and novel making practices. The studio promotes collaboration among designers, artists, and makers to create projects that uniquely engage with material and cultural contexts. Prior to his current practice, he served as a project architect at Barkow Leibinger in Berlin, Germany, where he worked on various cultural, institutional, and residential projects. He has also been involved with leading design and fabrication offices in Boston and New York, including Diller Scofidio + Renfro, Höweler + Yoon, MALL, and Situ Fabrication. Evan is also an Assistant Professor of Architecture at the Rhode Island School of Design, where he teaches studio, representation, and fabrication-based courses.
