Biography

Evan Miller holds a B.S. in Biology and Chemistry, along with a B.A. in Philosophy and Theology from Point Loma Nazarene University, graduating in 2004. He obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley in 2009, under the advisement of Christopher J. Chang. Following his doctorate, he was a post-doctoral fellow at the University of California, San Diego from 2009 to 2013, mentored by Roger Y. Tsien. He was designated as a NIH NRSA post-doctoral fellow and a K99 Pathway Independence Fellow, with research focus on neuroscience and imaging. As an Assistant Professor at the University of California, Berkeley, he began in the Chemistry Molecular and Cell Biology department in 2013 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2020. His research interests include chemical biology, organic chemistry, fluorescence microscopy, and the development of molecular tools for studying the nervous system.
