Biography

Evan Young is an adjunct professor who has been teaching about Federal Courts since 2015. He currently serves as a Justice on the Texas Supreme Court, a position he has held since 2021 after being nominated by Governor Abbott. Before his judicial role, Young had an extensive career as a law clerk, notably for Justice Antonin Scalia of the United States Supreme Court, and for Judge J. Harvie Wilkinson of the Fourth Circuit. He has also held significant positions in the U.S. Department of Justice, where he worked under Attorneys General Gonzales and Mukasey, and spent a year in Iraq assisting in developing the Iraqi justice system. In addition to his judicial responsibilities, Young is a frequent writer and lecturer at professional conferences and legal publications. He graduated summa cum laude from Duke University, and was a British Marshall Scholar at the University of Oxford. Young is a member of the American Law Institute and has held leadership positions including the Chair of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children’s Texas Regional Office. He was confirmed by the Texas Senate in 2017 to the Texas Judicial Council and the Supreme Court Advisory Committee.
