Biography

Evangelos Mazomenos is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering at University College London (UCL), focusing on Medical Robotics and Artificial Intelligence. He is also a co-investigator at the UCL Hawkes Institute. Previously, he served as the Deputy Director for Public Engagement at the Wellcome/EPSRC Centre for Interventional Surgical Sciences at UCL. Before joining UCL, he held an academic fellowship in Healthcare Surgical Robotics at the University of Leeds, where he collaborated between the School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering and the School of Medicine. Mazomenos earned his PhD in Electronic Electrical Engineering from the University of Southampton, with a thesis on wireless sensor networks, awarded in 2009 alongside the IET Leslie H. Paddle scholarship. He completed his undergraduate degree as a Dipl.Eng in Electrical Computer Engineering from the University of Patras in Greece. His research interests include computer vision, medical image analysis, and next-generation computer-assisted robotic surgical interventions. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the MICCAI Society.
