Biography

Evanthia Lalla is a Professor of Dental Medicine at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine and Senior Associate Dean for Faculty Development. She has received her dental degrees from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and a Master’s in Periodontics from Columbia University. Dr. Lalla's research primarily focuses on periodontal infections and their links to diabetes mellitus and atherosclerosis. Her work is well-supported by grants from the National Institutes of Health and various industry foundations. She has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Antony Rizzo Young Investigator Award from the International Association for Dental Research. Dr. Lalla has served as the immediate past president of the Periodontal Research Group of the International Association for Dental Research. In addition to her research, Dr. Lalla provides clinical services in areas such as periodontal and implant therapy.
