Dr. Eveline Milliken

Biography

Eveline Milliken is an Associate Professor at the University of Manitoba's Faculty of Social Work. She has an extensive background in Social Work, having completed her Doctorate in Philosophy at Memorial University of Newfoundland and a Master's degree at the University of Calgary. Her research interests are wide-ranging, focusing on Cultural Safety and Humility, Feminist Social Work Theory, Practice Transformation, Child Welfare, and education in inner-city social work contexts. Dr. Milliken is currently involved in projects directed towards action and healing, including the 'Remembering Children' initiative, which responds to the historical context of residential schools in Canada. She is also a member of various committees and councils aimed at promoting Indigenous methodologies and Truth and Reconciliation frameworks within the university setting. Her initiatives include collaborations with other experts to develop resources for teaching social work practice skills in innovative, case-based learning environments. Dr. Milliken's dedication to her field is reflected in her active engagement with community and academic partnerships.
