Biography

Evelyn Chew is a lecturer at the Singapore University of Technology and Design, specializing in Social Sciences. She holds an M.A. in International Communication and International Business from Macquarie University and a PhD in Communication and New Media from the National University of Singapore. Her doctoral research examined the subjective lived experience as conveyed through computer-mediated interactive life narratives. Further advancing her research as a Digital Research Fellow at the National Library Board, she explored life narratives of women in Singapore during the pre-independence period. Prior to joining SUTD, Evelyn worked as a Research Fellow at the National Healthcare Group Polyclinics, where she engaged in qualitative research, focusing on patients’ lived experiences with diabetic amputation and other health issues. Her publications emphasize visual storytelling and empathy in interactive narratives. Evelyn co-authored a children’s reference book and is dedicated to highlighting patients' perspectives during her research.
