Dr. Evelyn Goh

Biography

Evelyn Goh is the Shedden Professor of Strategic Policy Studies at the Australian National University and serves as the Research Director at the Strategic & Defence Studies Centre. Her research encompasses U.S.-China relations, diplomatic history, the regional security order in East Asia, and the strategies of Southeast Asian nations concerning great powers and environmental security. Goh is widely published, with notable works including 'Struggle Order: Hegemony, Hierarchy Transition Post-Cold War East Asia' (Oxford University Press, 2013) and 'Great Powers Hierarchical Order Southeast Asia' (International Security, 2007). She co-authored 'Re-thinking Sino-Japanese Alienation: Historical Problems and Historical Opportunities' (Oxford University Press, 2020) with Barry Buzan. Goh has held academic positions at prestigious institutions such as the Royal Holloway University of London and the University of Oxford, and has been involved in significant projects funded by various grants, including the Australian Research Council Discovery Grant. Her academic contributions have been recognized through roles such as Co-Managing Editor of the Cambridge Studies in International Relations series, as well as her membership in significant councils related to international security.
