Biography

Everett Vokes, MD, serves as the John E. Ultmann Distinguished Service Professor and Chair of the Department of Medicine at the University of Chicago. With a medical degree from the University of Bonn Medical School, he has completed a clerkship at St Luke’s Hospital in Sydney and went on to accomplish a residency in internal medicine at Ravenswood Hospital Medical Center in Chicago. He has contributed significantly to the field through participation in national trials examining chemoradiotherapy methods and leading clinical investigations at the university and nationally. Dr. Vokes is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Association for Cancer Research, and holds positions on editorial boards of oncology journals. He has authored over 80 book chapters and published more than 500 papers in high-impact journals including the New England Journal of Medicine and the Journal of Clinical Oncology, presenting his research at various medical congresses. His work has received substantial support through NIH funding, underscoring his vital role in cancer research.
