Dr. Evgenia Ralli

Biography

Evgenia Ralli is a lecturer at Edinburgh Law School, specializing in Financial Law and Regulation. She teaches the LLM in International Banking Law and Finance. Her current research focuses on shadow banking and the interplay between law and socio-economic contexts, particularly through the lens of banking financial law regulation and its historical evolution. Ralli's academic interests extend to EU law, financial criminal law, and comparative law, employing inter-disciplinary research methods. Prior to joining Edinburgh Law School in 2023, she taught at Coventry University where she covered subjects like EU law and foundations of the English legal system. Ralli completed her PhD at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy, under the supervision of Prof. Hans-Wolfgang Micklitz, focusing on the role of law in the creation and growth of shadow banking, a project funded by the German Academic Exchange Service. Additionally, she has experience as a Teaching Associate at the Florence School of Banking and Finance and as a Visiting Researcher at the London School of Economics. She has also served as a Legal Trainee at the European Systemic Risk Board and the Court of Justice of the European Union. Ralli is an active member of professional organizations including the Kavala Bar Association in Greece, the Society for the Advancement of Socio-Economics, and the Society of Legal Scholars, and is a fellow of the European Law Institute.
