Biography

Ezinne Ogbureke is a full-time professor in the Department of General Practice and Dental Public Health at the University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston. She earned her Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree from the University of Nigeria School of Dentistry in Enugu in 1991 and later obtained her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. Before her academic career, she gained experience in private practice and as part of a community dental practice and mobile dental van practice in Maryland. She began her teaching career as an instructor at Harvard School of Public Health before transitioning to private practice and later returning to academic roles at the Dental College of Georgia. In 2013, she joined the faculty in Houston. Dr. Ogbureke has received multiple awards for her contributions, including the Dean's Small Grant Award and the Joseph F. O'Donnell Early Career Investigator Award from the American Association for Cancer Education. She has co-authored chapters and published over 17 articles on various topics, while also mentoring dental hygiene students and engaging in community health screenings. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes the importance of considering oral health in the context of systemic diseases.
