Biography

Ezra Getzler received his PhD from Harvard University in 1986. He was a Junior Fellow at the Harvard Society of Fellows and served as a faculty member at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He joined the faculty at Northwestern University in 1997. Getzler's research focuses on mathematical physics, particularly relations between quantum field theory, topology, and geometry. He has been awarded the Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship in 1991 and has held several distinguished visiting appointments and professorships, including at the Research Institute of Mathematical Sciences at Kyoto University and the University of Geneva, as well as the Leverhulme Visiting Professorship at Imperial College, and the Microsoft Visiting Research Fellowship at the Newton Institute, University of Cambridge. Getzler is also a member of the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton. In 2013, he was named a Fellow of the American Mathematical Society, and he received the Simons Fellowship in 2017.
