Biography

F. Daniel Hidalgo is an Associate Professor of Political Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He received his doctorate in Political Science from the University of California at Berkeley and holds a BA from Princeton University. His research interests center on political economy, elections, campaigns, and representation in developing democracies, with a particular focus on Latin America. Hidalgo's work applies quantitative methods to the social sciences and has been published in numerous academic journals, including the Journal of Politics, the Review of Economic Statistics, World Development, Political Analysis, and the American Journal of Political Science. He has also been a recipient of grants from the National Science Foundation and the Fulbright Program, and he is involved in the Experiments Governance Politics Network.
