Dr. Fabian Grabenhorst

Biography

Fabian Grabenhorst is an Associate Professor of Experimental Psychology at the University of Oxford. He is also a Wellcome Trust Sir Henry Dale Fellow and a Tutor at Jesus College. His research focuses on the neural mechanisms underlying reward and decision-making, as well as social behavior. Notably, he investigates how the brain's reward system influences economic decision-making and social interactions. His work includes studying how the sensory properties of food, such as viscosity and sliding friction, impact economic preferences and reward-driven behavior. Grabenhorst employs advanced techniques, including single-neuron recordings and neuroimaging, to explore the activity of neural structures involved in reward processing, specifically in the amygdala. His research aims to advance understanding of how these brain systems may dysfunction in human diseases, particularly in relation to decision-making and social choices.
