Biography

Fabian Grunert is an Associate Professor in the Elastomer Technology & Engineering (ETE) group at the University of Twente. He completed his engineer diploma in Plastics Rubber Engineering at the University of Applied Science Würzburg-Schweinfurt in 2015, where he investigated the influence of binary filler mixtures in interpenetrating polymer networks on the mechanical properties of vulcanized rubbers for his diploma thesis. He then joined the Elastomer Technology & Engineering Group as a PhD student in collaboration with Evonik Resource Efficiency GmbH, successfully defending his thesis on analytical methods for predicting in-rubber dispersibility of silica in December 2018. Following this, he served as a postdoctoral researcher, primarily responsible for the DRIVES project funded by the EU, aimed at establishing new educational skills for employees in the automotive industry. In December 2019, he became an assistant professor, supporting the collaboration between the University of Twente and the University of Amsterdam in their Mechanical Engineering BSc program. Grunert is actively involved in various research projects across Bachelor, Master, PDEng, and PhD levels, reflecting his passion for education and research in the field.
