Dr. Fabiano Dalpiaz

Biography

Fabiano Dalpiaz is a Professor of Software Production in the Department of Information and Computing Sciences at Utrecht University in the Netherlands. He is the principal investigator of the department's Requirements Engineering lab. His research focuses on blending artificial intelligence with information visualization to enhance the quality of requirements engineering process artifacts. He develops software tools to assist human analysts and stakeholders in eliciting, expressing, and analyzing requirements. His work is grounded in empirical validation through experiments and collaborations with software companies. He currently serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Requirements Engineering Journal published by Springer Nature and chairs the Steering Committee for the REFSQ conference. He has previously held prestigious roles such as program co-chair for the IEEE RE 2023, REFSQ 2021, and RCIS 2020 conferences. Dalpiaz has a rich background in academic service, regularly contributing to program committees for international conferences in the field of requirements engineering. He joined Utrecht University in 2013 after a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Toronto and prior positions at the University of Trento. He earned his Ph.D. focusing on self-adaptive systems from the University of Trento.
