Biography

Fabio Angiolillo is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Gothenburg and the V-Dem Institute. He received his PhD in Political Science from the University of Hong Kong (HKU) in 2023. As a Visiting Fellow at Cornell University, Angiolillo focuses on comparative politics, political institutions, regime stability and change, and political behavior. Angiolillo's work examines authoritarian regimes with a specific focus on East Asian politics and has been recognized with the 2022 Virginia Gray Graduate Student Award for his dissertation, which explored the interaction between ruling parties and citizens in party-based autocracies. He co-organizes the Authoritarian Political Systems Group and serves as a co-convenor for the Authoritarian Regime Change section of the Political Studies Association. His contributions to academic literature include multiple publications on autocratization and political party systems.
