Dr. Fabio Moneta

Biography

Fabio Moneta is a Full Professor and Co-Director of the Microprogram in Capital Markets at the Telfer School of Management, University of Ottawa. He holds the RBC Financial Group Fellowship in Finance and has received significant recognitions for his research contributions, notably the 2023 Telfer Established Researcher Award. Moneta's prior experience includes serving as an Assistant Professor of Finance at the Smith School of Business, Queen’s University, and as a visiting professor at the Università di Pisa and Collegio Carlo Alberto in Turin, Italy. He earned his PhD in Finance from the Carroll School of Management at Boston College and holds a Master's degree from CORIPE Piemonte (Collegio Carlo Alberto University of Torino) and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Pisa. His research focuses on investments, institutional investors, trading behavior, mutual fund performance, and responsible investing, with insights into monetary policy fostered by his experience at the European Central Bank in Frankfurt. Moneta has presented his research at over 70 conferences across Europe and North America and published articles in leading journals such as the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis and Management Science. He has also contributed book chapters to the Handbook of Fixed Income Securities, edited by Pietro Veronesi, and has acted as a referee for various academic publication outlets. Moneta teaches courses in finance, investments, empirical asset pricing, and sustainable finance at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
