Biography

Fabio Wasserfallen is a Professor of European Politics and the Managing Director at the Institute of Political Science at the University of Bern. He completed his PhD at the University of Zurich in 2014 and subsequently joined the Centre of European Union Studies at the University of Salzburg as an Assistant Professor of Political Economy, where he was promoted to Associate Professor in 2017. He was a Fung Global Fellow at Princeton University in the 2014/15 academic year and has been with the University of Bern since 2020. His research primarily explores topics including European integration, the institutions of the European Union, public opinion, policy diffusion, federalism, and direct democracy. He has published findings in leading journals such as the American Political Science Review and the European Journal of Political Research. Wasserfallen has also coordinated Horizon 2020 project "EMU Choices", focusing on the politics surrounding the Eurozone crisis.
