Biography

Fadel Adib is an Associate Professor at the MIT Media Lab and the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. He leads the Signal Kinetics group, which specializes in inventing wireless sensor technologies for various applications such as health monitoring, robotics, and the Internet of Things. Adib is also the founder of Cartesian Systems, a spinoff lab focused on mapping indoor environments using wireless signals. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from the American University of Beirut in 2011 and completed his Master’s and Ph.D. at MIT in 2013 and 2016, respectively. His doctoral thesis received the ACM SIGMOBILE Dissertation Award and was recognized as one of the most impactful works in wireless networks and mobile computing. Adib's research has led to the commercialization of technologies through startups, including devices that aid in monitoring patients with conditions such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. He has received numerous accolades, including the CAREER Award from the National Science Foundation and recognition in Forbes' 30 Under 30. His work has been showcased in renowned academic venues and major news outlets.
