Biography

Fadhel M. Ghannouchi is a professor and the founding Director of the iRadio Laboratory in the Department of Electrical and Software Engineering at the University of Calgary. He holds the position of Alberta Innovates/Canada Research Chair. Ghannouchi's research interests are centered on RF wireless communications, with a focus on modeling and designing power-spectrum-efficient microwave amplification systems and solutions for wireless, optical, and satellite communications. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and the Canadian Academy of Engineering. Throughout his career, Ghannouchi has authored six books, holds 40 patents, and published over 700 refereed papers in IEEE journals and conferences, demonstrating significant contributions in his field. He has received various accolades, including the Outstanding Leadership Award from the Alberta Technology Foundation and several research excellence awards from the Schulich School of Engineering. His innovative work has resulted in the development of energy-efficient communication technologies, particularly in his role at iRadio Lab.
