Dr. Oudah has a unique blend of academic and industry experiences. His industry experience includes structural assessment of existing structures, dynamic earthquake analysis, reliability evaluation and optimization, strengthening of structures, impact finite element analysis, and the design of floating structures. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Nova Scotia and Alberta, and serves as a voting member on national and international design committees, including the Standing Committee on Structural Design of the National Research Council, ACI 215, and ACI 440-J. Dr. Oudah’s research interests focus on structural assessment and retrofit using novel techniques. He leads the Structural Assessment Retrofit (SAR) research group, which conducts research categorized into themes: Structural Design Retrofit using Smart Materials and Safety of Existing Structures with Non-Conventional Materials. His long-term objectives include developing innovative construction methods and techniques for retrofitting using smart materials such as Shape Memory Alloy (SMA), as well as reliability-based techniques for evaluating the safety of structures subjected to extreme service loads. Dr. Oudah’s teaching interests include undergraduate and graduate courses related to structural analysis and design, structural dynamics, and the Finite Element method.
