Biography

Fadil Bidmos obtained his BSc degree in Cell Biology Genetics from the University of Lagos, Nigeria, and subsequently completed his MSc and PhD degrees in Molecular Genetics at the University of Leicester, UK. His research program, generously supported by prestigious UK Medical Research Council fellowships (Career Development Award, 2019 - 2024; Senior Non-Clinical Fellowship, 2024 - 2029) and National Institute of Health innovation grants, focuses on designing and developing next-generation vaccines to combat diseases caused by prevalent bacterial pathogens of global economic importance, including bacterial meningitis caused by Neisseria meningitidis and Streptococcus pneumoniae. His lab employs innovative methodologies such as Reverse Vaccinology 2.0 and protein-glycan coupling technology, and is actively addressing the challenge of antimicrobial resistance, particularly with regards to vaccines for N. gonorrhoeae. Bidmos is committed to education, supporting undergraduate and postgraduate students and has been recognized for his exceptional teaching standards with a Fellowship from the UK Higher Education Academy.
