Biography

Faisal Hossain is the John R. Kiely Endowed Professor in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the University of Washington. He obtained his Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Connecticut, and has degrees from the National University of Singapore and the Indian Institute of Technology, Varanasi. His research focuses on hydrologic remote sensing, sustainable water resources engineering, and transboundary water resources management. Hossain has received numerous awards including the NASA New Investigator Award and the ASCE Walter L. Huber Award. He is a Fellow of the American Meteorological Society and the Environmental Water Resources Institute of ASCE. With over 190 peer-reviewed journal articles and national programs focused on improving water, food, and energy security, Hossain aims to apply earth science advances to engineering challenges. He has also been involved in educational initiatives and film projects related to STEM education.
