Biography

Professor Tamimi’s translational research program focuses on understanding fundamental problems related to health and disease in the oral cavity while developing new technologies such as biomaterials, drugs, and artificial intelligence to manage pathologies of the tissues, including bone fractures, osteoporosis, and oral cancer. He holds a BDS degree from the University of Jordan and possesses two clinical certificates in Geriatric Dentistry and Implant-Prosthodontics, as well as a Ph.D. in Biomaterials from the University Complutense of Madrid. He received postdoctoral research training at McGill University. A tenured professor, he has held numerous leadership positions both at McGill and internationally. Dr. Tamimi has received ample recognitions, including the VitalDent Foundation award, the Harry Rosen Award, and the ACFD W.W. Wood Excellence in Dental Education Award. He is also a Canada Research Chair Tier 2 and has received the Outstanding Research Health Award from Qatar University. In 2019, he was recognized as an Alumni of the Month by the University of Jordan and in 2024 received the title of Honorary Professor from the university. He has obtained research funding from prestigious organizations such as CIHR, QRDI, NSERC, and CFI and has published over 240 peer-reviewed scientific articles in high-impact journals.
