Biography

Fan-Rui Meng began his career with a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Forest Engineering from Northeast Forestry University, Harbin, China. He completed his PhD in forest ecology at the University of New Brunswick (UNB). In 1997, Meng joined the Faculty of Forestry and Environmental Management at UNB as an Industrial Research Chair, where he served as Research Director for Noranda/Avenor Forest Watershed Management Conservation Research Centre and Bowater/Nexfor Forest Watershed Research Centre. Prior to joining UNB, he worked as an exchange engineer at Forest Engineering Inc. in Oregon, USA, and as a lecturer at Northeast Forestry University. Currently, he is also an adjunct professor at Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University in Fuzhou, China. Meng's research interests encompass a variety of subjects related to hydrology, watershed management, and conservation, focusing specifically on soil conservation, integrated watershed management, soil mapping and classification, as well as forest growth and yield in the context of climate change. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, swimming, and playing badminton.
