Fangzhu Zhang is a professor in China Planning and joint coordinator of the China Planning Research Group at University College London (UCL). His main research interests include innovation governance, environmental planning, eco-city development, urban financialization, urban village redevelopment, and migrant integration in China. Fangzhu has extensively published in leading international journals and served as guest editor for special issues in journals such as Town Planning Review and Urban Studies. He is a co-editor of the books 'Rural Migrants in Urban China' and 'Handbook of China’s Urban Environmental Governance'. Involved in multiple research projects funded by the British Academy and ESRC, he is currently working on the ERC Advanced Grant research project, 'Rethinking China’s Urban Governance'. Fangzhu completed his BSc at Nanjing University, MPhil at the University of Hong Kong, and PhD at the University of Southampton. He has supervised numerous PhD students at UCL and has been engaged in faculty positions within the Bartlett School of Planning since 2011.
