Biography

Farai Chipato joined the University of Glasgow as a lecturer in Black Geographies in February 2022. Prior to this, he served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Centre for International Policy Studies at the University of Ottawa. He earned his doctorate from the School of Politics and International Relations at Queen Mary University of London, where he was supervised by Clive Gabay and David Williams. He holds a Master of Arts in International Politics from the University of Manchester and a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in History and Politics from the University of Liverpool. Before entering academia, he worked in local government focusing on economic policy, public sector evaluation, strategy development, and project appraisal in the private sector. His primary research interests include African politics, international interventions, and Black political thought in the Anthropocene, examining themes across geographic scales from local politics to broader theoretical concerns on a planetary level.
