Biography

Faramarz Fekri holds B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from Sharif University of Technology and a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Georgia Tech. After receiving his Ph.D. degree, he joined the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Georgia Tech as an assistant professor and later became the John Pippin Chair Professor and ECE-GTRI Fellow. He is a member of several centers, including the Center for Signal and Information Processing, Center for Machine Learning, and Center for Energy and Geo Processing. Prof. Fekri founded the SENTINEL Research Lab, which has a multidisciplinary focus on four intertwined areas: Information, Processing/Learning, Communications, and Decision Intelligence. His research applies machine learning to various fundamental problems including semantic communications and decision intelligence. He has also explored error correction codes and modern networking applications, developing frameworks for approximate computing and cryptographic systems. Prof. Fekri has served on editorial boards for several prestigious journals and held positions on technical program committees for IEEE Machine Learning conferences.
