Biography

Faranak Hardcastle is a Research Fellow at the Australian National Centre for the Public Awareness of Science (CPAS). She is a visiting fellow at the Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics at the University of Oxford. Faranak has a background in transdisciplinary exploration of the sociological and environmental dimensions of emerging science and technology, particularly in the fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Personalized Medicine. She obtained her PhD in Web Science from the University of Southampton in the UK. Previously, she worked as a Research Fellow at the Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics, the University of Southampton, and was a Research Associate at the School of Sociology, Politics and International Relations at the University of Bristol. Faranak is interested in designing and applying novel cross-sectoral transdisciplinary methodological approaches to identify existing and new forms of inequities and to expand capacities to envision and enact equitable, environmentally sustainable sociotechnical and socio-ecological practices.
