Biography

Farid Moussavi-Harami is a general cardiologist whose main interests include the treatment of coronary artery disease and heart failure. His research focuses on studying the mechanisms of cardiomyopathies, which are diseases of the heart muscle, utilizing molecular, biomechanical, and computational approaches. The overall goal of his research program is to improve targeted treatment options for patients suffering from cardiomyopathies. He is currently an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Washington's Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, where he has been appointed since 2021. Prior to this, he served as an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine from 2017 and has accumulated extensive experience in clinical settings as an attending physician at Harborview Medical Center and the University of Washington Medical Center since 2013. He holds board certifications from the American Board of Internal Medicine in both general internal medicine and cardiovascular diseases, achieved in 2008 and 2013, respectively. Moussavi-Harami completed his postdoctoral fellowship in bioengineering at the University of Washington and has received specialized training in cardiovascular medicine, as well as completing his residency in internal medicine at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He holds a Doctor of Medicine degree and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Iowa.
