Dr. Farida Akhtar

Biography

Farida Akhtar is an accomplished academic in the field of Finance, with a research focus that spans Mergers and Acquisitions, Asset Pricing, Corporate Finance, Behavioral Finance, Cybersecurity, and the integration of Artificial Intelligence within financial frameworks. She has previously worked with the Commonwealth Treasury and the Department of Defence before transitioning to academia. Dr. Akhtar has contributed significantly to high-ranking journals such as the Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Corporate Finance, and the Critical Finance Review, highlighting her extensive work in multidisciplinary fields. A recognized researcher, she serves as a reviewer for the Australian Research Council grants and has earned various teaching awards for her exceptional contribution to financial education at Macquarie University. Currently, she supervises several students at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels while actively engaging in media contributions discussing financial topics.
