Professor Dr. Farinaz Havaei

Biography

Farinaz Havaei is a health system researcher with a passion for improving quality and safety in healthcare services across the healthcare spectrum, particularly in the long-term care (LTC) sector. Recognizing the critical role that nurses play in ensuring patient health and safety, her research focuses on system-level factors (e.g., unit level, organizational level, policy level) that enhance the workplace psychological health and safety of nurses, which in turn affects their capacity to deliver effective patient care. Currently, Dr. Havaei is the lead investigator for several research studies funded provincially and nationally that examine the impact of pandemic management strategies on high-risk site policies and the visitation policies of LTC staff to ensure the quality and safety of care for residents and families. As an expert in psychometrics, she serves as the primary methodologist for quantitative research projects in this domain.
