Biography

Farouk Jivraj is a seasoned research-led investment professional whose career spans the financial industry and academia. He currently serves as a Senior Teaching Fellow and Co-Director of the Imperial Student Investment Fund at Imperial Business School. Concurrently, he is a Strategic Advisor to a range of participants in the liquid alternatives quantitative investment strategies (QIS) ecosystem, including allocators, investors, strategy designers, and technology providers. In his prior role, Farouk was a Portfolio Manager and Head of Alternative Risk Premia (ARP) at Fidelity Investments in London, where he led the build of a systematic liquid alternatives business. He guided cross-functional teams of portfolio managers, researchers, risk analysts, and technologists in designing, implementing, and managing systematic investment strategies across asset classes. Farouk served as the Global Head of Quantitative Investment Strategies (QIS) Research Origination at Barclays Investment Bank, leading the development of the QIS platform's research indexing capabilities. With a background as a quantitative derivative strategist, he also completed his doctoral studies in Financial Economics at Imperial Business School, focusing on stock-bond correlation dynamics. Farouk has published numerous white papers and articles, featuring in reputable media outlets such as Bloomberg, Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, and Economist, and was recognized as one of the “World’s 25 Leading Institutional Investors in Systematic Investing” by EQDerivatives in 2022 and 2025.
