Biography

Fateh Saeidi specializes in the sociology of religion, focusing on the dynamic landscape of Kurdistan and the broader Middle East. He received his PhD in Iranian Studies from Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, Germany, in 2023. Saeidi has been a lecturer at Soran University in Kurdistan since 2015 and joined the University of Texas at Austin in 2024. His research interests include Sufism, Islam, Middle Eastern religion, critical Muslim studies, and anti-colonial theory. He is currently working on a book titled 'Development of Early Sufism in the Jibāl Region' and has published articles in various academic journals, including Ethnicities, American Journal of Islam and Society, and the Australian Journal of Islamic Studies. Saeidi also serves as a senior editor for the Kurdish Studies and Humanities book collection published by Mang Publishing House.
