Biography

V. Faye McNeill is a Professor and Vice Chair in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Columbia University. She is also a professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, fully engaged in research and education at the Columbia Climate School. Faye joined Columbia University in 2007 and received tenure in 2014. She earned her B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology in 1999, followed by a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2005. Faye was a NASA Earth System Science Fellow and completed her postdoctoral work as a scholar in the Department of Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Washington from 2005 to 2007. Her research focuses on air quality, atmospheric chemistry, aerosols, and climate, cutting across fundamental and applied aspects. Throughout her career, she has received several awards, including the NSF CAREER award, the Kenneth T. Whitby Award from the American Association for Aerosol Research (AAAR), and has been recognized as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry in 2023 and a Fellow of AAAR in 2024. Faye has also served in various leadership roles, including as President of AAAR (2023-2024), and is involved as an Associate Editor with the journal Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics.
