Biography

Federica Catonini is a PhD candidate at the Centre for Climate Change Law Governance (CLIMA) at the University of Copenhagen, focusing on environmental law, particularly ocean law, climate change, and biodiversity law. Her PhD research addresses the regulation of ocean carbon sinks and the governance of international climate change and ocean biodiversity law. She holds a single-cycle degree (laurea magistrale) in Law from the University of Turin, Italy, and an LL.M. in Public International Law with a specialization in Environmental Law from Utrecht University, Netherlands. She is currently working on the interaction between international climate change law, ocean law, and biodiversity law under the supervision of Associate Professors Beatriz Martinez Romera and Amnon Lev. In addition to her research, Federica teaches undergraduate courses in International Law and is involved in LLM courses related to Climate Change Law and International Environmental Law. She also supervises bachelor's and master's theses in her fields of expertise.
