Dr. Federica Frediani

Biography

Federica Frediani is a lecturer and scientific collaborator at the Università della Svizzera italiana. She also serves as a project leader for the Middle East Mediterranean Summit. Frediani holds a PhD in Comparative Literature with a focus on Literary Text Translation from the University of Siena. She has been a research fellow in the Department of Foreign Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at the University of Bergamo, where she collaborated for ten years. In 2023, she taught a course at Lyon 2 University as part of the Minerva project. Her research interests concentrate on narratives and cultural productions, examining the geopolitical, intercultural, and diplomatic dynamics of the Middle East Mediterranean region. Frediani has published books and articles on cultural and political relations between the northern and southern shores of the Mediterranean, with a particular focus on travel literature and odeporic writing by female travelers. Additionally, she has coordinated and organized international projects and conferences related to the Middle East Mediterranean theme and frequently contributes to Swiss radio and television, offering commentary on culture and current affairs in the region.
