Biography

Federico Picinali is an Associate Professor at the Law School of the London School of Economics and Political Science. He earned his degree in Legal Sciences from Università degli Studi di Milano and later pursued an LL.M. and Ph.D. in law from Yale Law School and Università degli Studi di Trento, respectively. Before joining LSE, he was an Assistant Professor and visiting fellow at the LSE Law School. Picinali has been a visiting researcher at several prestigious institutions, including UC Berkeley School of Law and Penn Law. His main research interests include criminal law and evidence law, particularly the philosophical underpinnings of these areas. He is currently investigating epistemic injustice in the context of criminal fact-finding and is the coordinator of the LSE Criminal Justice Forum. As a published author, his works have appeared in various esteemed journals, and he published a monograph titled 'Justice In-Between' with Oxford University Press in 2022. He is also an enthusiastic rock climber and a qualified rock climbing instructor.
