Biography

Fedor Benevich is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Edinburgh specializing in the philosophy of the Islamic world, with a significant focus on metaphysics, epistemology, and the philosophy of mind. He received a BA in Byzantine Modern Greek Studies from the University of St. Petersburg in 2011, and an MA in Islamic Studies from the University of Tübingen in 2013. In 2016, he completed his PhD in Philosophy at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, where he was supervised by Professor Peter Adamson. Benevich's research involves a critical adaptation of ancient philosophical theories within the Arabic intellectual tradition and explores the realm of Islamic philosophical theology (kalām) and post-classical Islamic philosophy. He has expressed a keen interest in contemporary metaphysics and epistemology, and has been actively involved in teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Islamic Philosophy.
