Biography

Fei Fang is an Assistant Professor in the Institute for Software Research at Carnegie Mellon University. He completed his Ph.D. in Computer Science at the University of Southern California in June 2016 under the supervision of Milind Tambe. Prior to joining Carnegie Mellon, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Research on Computation and Society (CRCS) at Harvard University, where he worked with advisors David Parkes and Barbara Grosz. His research interests focus on artificial intelligence and multi-agent systems, with an emphasis on computational game theory and its applications in security and sustainability domains. Fei Fang's dissertation was selected as a runner-up for the IFAAMAS-16 Victor Lesser Distinguished Dissertation Award and his work has garnered multiple accolades, including the Innovative Application Award at the Innovative Applications of Artificial Intelligence (IAAI’16) conference and the Outstanding Paper Award at the Computational Sustainability Track of the International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence (IJCAI’15) for his paper on “Protecting Moving Targets for Mobile Resources.” This project contributed to the Coast Guard's strategy for protecting the Staten Island Ferry in New York City. Additionally, he has engaged in efforts to develop patrol strategies to combat illegal poaching, leading to the deployment of the PAWS application in Southeast Asia to protect tiger populations.
