Biography

Fei Wang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mining, Metallurgical Materials Engineering at Laval University, where he also serves as the Director of the Laboratory of Sustainable Minerals Engineering Decarbonization (SMED). He is a Professional Engineer with the Association Professional Engineer Geoscientists British Columbia. His research interests include carbon mineralization, hydrometallurgy, and critical metals recovery. He joined Laval University in 2020 after completing his Ph.D. in Materials Engineering at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in 2019, where he also worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow until 2022. Prior to academic positions, Dr. Wang was an Engineering Manager at Sicomines Sarl in the D.R. Congo, focusing on copper and cobalt recovery in open-pit mining and mineral processing operations from 2014 to 2016. His current research emphasizes CO2 mineralization, hydrometallurgical extraction of critical metals, recycling battery residues, and the comprehensive utilization of waste materials to support the global clean energy transition.
