Biography

Fei Yuan received his B.Eng. degree in electrical engineering from Shandong University, Jinan, China, in 1985, and went on to earn M.A.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in chemical and electrical engineering from the University of Waterloo, Canada, in 1995 and 1999, respectively. He began his academic career as a lecturer in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Changzhou Institute of Technology, Jiangsu, China, from 1985 to 1989. He was a visiting professor at Humber College of Applied Arts and Technology and Lambton College of Applied Arts and Technology in Canada before moving to Canada permanently. From 1989 to 1994, he worked as a Controls Engineer at Paton Controls Limited in Sarnia, Ontario, where he designed and commissioned total distributed control systems for petrochemical processes worldwide. In 1999, he joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Toronto Metropolitan University, serving as Assistant Professor and later being promoted to Associate Professor in 2003 and Full Professor in 2008. He has held numerous administrative roles, including Associate Chair for Undergraduate Studies and Faculty Affairs and Chair of the department. Dr. Yuan is a senior member of the IEEE and a registered professional engineer in Ontario, Canada.
