Biography

Feini Qu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine at the University of Washington, holding the Allan Treuer-Ted Wagner, MD Endowed Chair in Regenerative Spine Surgery. She is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Bioengineering and a core faculty member at the UW Institute for Stem Cell & Regenerative Medicine. Dr. Qu trained as a veterinarian at the University of Pennsylvania and completed her Ph.D. in Bioengineering from the same institution. She was subsequently a postdoctoral fellow at Washington University in St. Louis before joining UW. Her research focuses on understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying musculoskeletal tissue regeneration, particularly in the context of bone and connective tissues. She utilizes innovative techniques such as gene editing and the application of biomaterials in her research. Her current projects include engineering cells for skeletal patterning and regeneration, studying mechanobiology in relation to fibrotic scarring, and developing therapies for enhanced limb regeneration.
