Biography

Feixiong Liao is an Associate Professor at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) in the Urban Planning Transportation Group. His expertise includes urban planning, transport studies, and mobility behavior analysis. Feixiong is currently focused on developing large-scale model systems for urban transportation planning and has expertise in multi-state supernetwork modeling to address interdependent decision problems. His research innovation topics involve network modeling of mobility demand and supply analyses, measurement of urban contexts, and behavior analysis with a special focus on bounded rationality. Feixiong is also dedicated to service innovation that addresses mobility issues and sustainability, exploring the nexus between mobility, energy, and social aspects. He is interested in AI applications, climate-neutral mobility, integrated land-use transport modeling, experimental designs, and microsimulations. He regularly contributes to the editorial boards of several ISI-indexed scientific journals and conducts reviews for over 90 international publications. An inductee of the top 2% scientists worldwide for 2023, 2024, and 2025 according to Elsevier, he was awarded his Ph.D. degree cum laude from TU/e in 2013. Besides his research, Feixiong teaches courses such as 'Smart Mobility Design' and 'Mobility Logistics' and supervises numerous doctoral candidates.
