Biography

Felicity is a Chartered Psychologist and an academic Health Psychologist leading a programme of mixed methods research focused on complementary therapies and placebo effects in health care. She has attracted funding from organizations such as the National Institute for Health Research and Versus Arthritis, with her work published in leading medical, health psychology, and social science journals. Felicity has an extensive network of national and international collaborations and has held visiting positions at Harvard and the Australian Centre for Integrative Complementary Medicine at the University of Technology Sydney. She provides research-led teaching and supervision for undergraduate and postgraduate students in health psychology and research methods. Her current research explores the contextual effects of health care, including ethical, scientific, and lay perspectives on the use of placebos in clinical practice, treatment adherence, and the utilisation of complementary and alternative medicines. Felicity has served as Programme Director for the MSc Health Psychology and has considerable experience supervising final year undergraduate projects, MSc dissertations, and PhD theses.
