Dr. Felipe Tobar

Biography

Felipe Tobar is an Associate Professor at Imperial College London in the Department of Mathematics, focusing on machine learning and its applications. His research primarily encompasses statistical machine learning, signal processing, Gaussian processes, optimal transport, diffusion models, and spectral estimation. He has an interest in applying machine learning and signal processing techniques to various fields including astronomy, health, finance, and climate-related issues. He is actively involved in data science projects and has extensive teaching experience across undergraduate, graduate, and executive education levels. His academic journey includes previous positions as an Associate Professor at the Universidad de Chile and as a Research Associate at the University of Cambridge. He holds a PhD in signal processing from Imperial College London, as well as master's and bachelor's degrees in electrical engineering from the Universidad de Chile.
