Biography

Felix Berenskötter is a Reader in the Department of War Studies at King's College London. He earned his PhD from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 2009. Berenskötter has previously been based at SOAS University of London, where he served as Head of the Department of Politics and International Studies, and has held prestigious fellowships, including at the John Sloan Dickey Center for International Understanding at Dartmouth College as a Leverhulme Research Fellow and a Visiting Fellow at the American-German Institute in Washington, D.C. He has served as Editor for 'Millennium: Journal of International Studies' and 'Journal of Global Security Studies'. Berenskötter founded and chaired the Theory Section of the International Studies Association and co-convened the Interpretivism Working Group within the British International Studies Association, while also contributing to the Governing Board of the European International Studies Association. His research spans various theories and concepts in world politics, particularly focusing on identity, power, security, and international friendship. His current work explores concepts of estrangement and friendship in international relations and seeks to address the value of universities in society amidst geopolitical challenges.
